In my process of making, I am the constant sifter, sorter, and gleaner. A huntress on the prowl for overlooked material. I find inspiration in the natural world, and my work imitates those spaces. I discover raw material in second hand books, and enjoy the process of combing and flipping pages for colors, textures, and imagery to help me build an alternate cosmos and mythos.

It is in the ritual of collecting that I find equilibrium with my practice. Psychologically inserting my control over a world, when around me, a world so completely out of my control continues to spin. A complete withdrawal into fantasy. The places I create evolved out of the elation I feel when I discover a new planet within a drop of water. My microscope has allowed me an alternate view into the world. These discoveries for me are the closest I have come to witness that the macro exists within the micro. The colors and atmospheres that exist that I am not privy to unless given this device elate me. Time slows. I observe the interconnectedness of all that we are surrounded by. The concept of animism, sentient lifeforms elsewhere, the sacredness of ritual, and that there is a cosmic consciousness waiting to be tapped into have guided this body of work. It is our nature to create meaning and make myths out of our lives. With every form I cut out with my scissors, a formation is created somewhere in the universe.
