For the artist, Charlie Brouwer, it all started with his discovery of Andy Warhol’s Last Supper paintings and thinking about what he might do with this theme. The last supper story is imbedded deep in his own religious heritage. In others, it has inspired countless creative works from paintings on velvet, to movies, to Leonardo da Vinci’s mural that has become one of the most universally recognizable works of art.

In Charlie’s hands, the materials for interpretation are ladders. Viewing ladders as universally symbolizing transcendence, the artist created a
22-foot-long sculptural representation of the Last Supper. Videos projected onto the sculpture translate the concept found in the Gospel of John, Jesus’s command to “Love one another”.

The show includes drawings, sculptures, videos, and writing on the wall.
It is best described as a 3-year journey – a wandering in, around, through and beyond an idea. The last piece created for the show is carved some words from a J.R.R. Tolkien poem into the sculpture "Not all who wander are lost".  In this exhibition, After the Last Supper, there is much to be found.
